Personal Statement

I believe that counseling is most effective when it is a mutual process in which the counselor and client(s) work together with honesty and commitment. It has been my experience that most people come to counseling feeling discouraged about their lives or current situations. My goal for every client is resolution of short- or long-term issues that interfere with their ability to lead a satisfying and productive life. When a person is able to think and feel more clearly about his or her life, it becomes possible to establish new goals and acquire the skills to achieve them. Life has the potential to be a joyful experience, and humor and laughter can be integral parts of the therapeutic process.

My counseling strategies are strongly oriented toward meeting your needs in ways that are respectful of your individuality and personal values. To achieve these goals I use a variety of techniques including insight-oriented therapy, cognitive-behavioral strategies, client-centered philosophies, and stress management techniques.

Appointments are available throughout the day, including early morning and evening in both my Chicago and Crete offices. I accept insurance coverage as an out-of-network provider and am willing to negotiate a payment plan for clients in financial hardship.
